Course Overview

- Purpose: To help students of the Mueunjae School of Undergraduate Studies independently explore various departments before declaring their major, and to gain a comprehensive understanding of each department's academic sub-disciplines, curriculum, and degree requirements.

- Target: All incoming students of the Mueunjae School of Undergraduate Studies

- Credits: 1 credit total (offered in the first semester only; not available in the second semester)

- Key Feature: An opportunity to build knowledge and personal connections through interactions with faculty members, academic administrators, current students, graduate students, and fellow peers who share similar academic interests in prospective departments.

(Q) Are there other resources available for major exploration beyond this course? 

The Mueunjae School of Undergraduate Studies supports students in exploring their future career paths through a variety of initiatives, including mentoring programs, opportunities to participate in research as incoming students, and the provision of contact points for each department. That said, the "Department Exploration" course offers the unique advantage of allowing students to experience all 11 departments at POSTECH, and to integrate those experiences into a more informed and well-rounded career plan.

(Q)  How is the course graded?

This course is graded on a Pass/Fail basis and is evaluated comprehensively, taking into account attendance (full attendance at introductory presentations by all 11 departments, and verified pamphlet collection from visits to 2 or more individual departments), as well as a department exploration report assignment.
