A Personalized Mentoring Program with Senior Student Mentors
Program Overview
- Purpose: To help freshmen adapt to university life early and improve their academic abilities in foundational subjects, senior students serve as mentors to guide and support them. Through this, the program aims to reduce the academic burden of core required courses, and foster a sense of community between upper- and underclassmen as well as a culture of active learning.
- Eligibility (Mentees): Freshmen from the Mueunjae College and the Department of Semiconductor Engineering who wish to participate.
- Credits: This program operates outside the regular curriculum. There is no separate evaluation process, and no academic credits are awarded upon completion.

FAQ
| (Q) Are there cases where mentee applications may not be accepted?
1) For courses operated by the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences (Calculus I/II, General Physics I/II, General Chemistry I, and Programming and Problem Solving), all mentee applicants are generally accepted unless there are exceptional circumstances. However, mentoring support is limited to a maximum of two courses per student. Therefore, if a student applies for three or more courses, applications beyond the first two courses will not be accepted. 2) For courses not directly operated by the Division but managed by individual departments (such as Applied Linear Algebra, General Biology, and other courses with course numbers at the 200 level or above), mentee applications may be submitted regardless of the two-course limit described in Item 1. However, the application and selection procedures may vary by department. Please follow the guidelines provided by the relevant department for the course of interest. |
| (Q) What courses are selected and supported by individual departments, and how can students participate as mentees?
Representative examples include Applied Linear Algebra and General Biology (Regular/Honors), which are operated by the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Life Sciences, respectively, with support from the Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition, the Department of Mathematics independently operates SMP activities for courses such as Differential Equations, Probability and Statistics, and Applied Complex Analysis, while the Department of Life Sciences operates SMP activities for Molecular Biology and other courses. Information regarding department-operated SMP programs will also be announced during the Division’s SMP application periods (early March and early September). Please refer to the official announcements for detailed information. |
