				2026 Fall Semester SMP (Student Mentoring Program) – Mentee Recruitment

The Office of Mueunjae Undergraduate Studies is recruiting mentees for the 2026 Fall Semester Student Mentoring Program (SMP). The program is open to first-year students who would like academic support with required foundational courses.

SMP is a mentoring program in which first-year students receive academic support and guidance on adjusting to university life from upper-year student mentors.

Students who need additional support with required foundational courses or would like to benefit from the academic experience and advice of upper-year students are encouraged to apply.

1. Recruitment Overview
Eligibility: First-year students in Mueunjae Undergraduate Studies and the Department of Semiconductor Engineering
Courses: Required foundational courses
Calculus I / II
General Physics II (General Physics: Electromagnetism and Light)
General Chemistry I
Programming and Problem Solving

Application Period: August 24 (Mon.), 2026, 09:00 – September 9 (Wed.), 2026, 23:59
※ The POVIS system will automatically close applications at the deadline.
Selection & Team Assignment: By September 11 (Fri.), 2026
※ Results will be announced through POVIS.
Selection Criteria: Priority will be given to students who need additional academic support or have insufficient prerequisite knowledge for the course(s) they are applying for, as well as students who can make SMP participation a priority during the semester.
2. Course Application & Assignment
Each student may apply for up to two courses. A separate application must be submitted for each course.
Courses will be designated as the 1st and 2nd choice according to the order of application. The 1st-choice course will be prioritized for assignment. Assignment to the 2nd-choice course is not guaranteed and will depend on mentor availability.
After selection and team assignment, mentees must carefully review the SMP activity guidelines and important notices provided.
3. SMP Activities
Activity Period: September 14 (Mon.) – December 20 (Sun.), 2026
Frequency: Once a week, 2 hours per session / 12 sessions in total during the semester
Format: In-person mentoring is the standard format. Online mentoring may be permitted only when in-person meetings are not feasible due to unavoidable circumstances. Detailed mentoring activities and schedules will be arranged through communication between mentors and mentees.
Teams for Korean First-Year Students: In principle, each team will consist of one mentor and three mentees. Depending on the number of applicants and selected students, teams may consist of two to four mentees.
Teams for International First-Year Students: To facilitate effective communication and mentoring, each team will consist of one mentor and one to two mentees.
4. Participation Requirements
Selected mentees are expected to participate sincerely and consistently in all scheduled mentoring activities.
Mentees who are absent from two or more of the four monthly mentoring sessions may be excluded from the SMP. Exceptions may be made for unavoidable circumstances, such as illness, subject to confirmation by the mentor.
The results of the end-of-semester mutual evaluation between mentors and mentees may be used as reference information for future SMP selection.
